The Road Safety World Series (RSWS) on Sunday (September 17) announced the postponement of the inaugural 'No Honking Twenty20 Series', where three teams were supposed to participate.

The inaugural edition which was scheduled to be held between September 16 and 18 at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ground at Mira-Bhayandar (West) in Mumbai will now be played between October 15 and 22.

"This decision has been made in light of the adverse weather conditions prevailing in Mumbai, characterized by heavy rainfall. Our primary concern is the safety, well-being and comfort of the cricket legends participating in this event," the organisers claimed in an official release.

"Road Safety World Series expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all our dedicated supporters and well-wishers for their unwavering commitment. We eagerly anticipate an exciting series next month that will underscore the importance of road safety and address the critical issue of noise pollution, which remains a significant concern in our nation," the release added further.

India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends and Bangladesh Legends are the three teams which will participate in the first edition. It is an extension of the popular Road Safety World Series, supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Information & Technology and Youth Affairs & Sports Government of India.

The series is a unique concept featuring India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends and Bangladesh Legends all converging for a single cause - to promote a safer environment on the roads while also focusing on reducing noise levels through extreme honking, a serious concern in the country.

Speaking about the 'No Honking Twenty20 Series, Shri Ravi Gaikwad, Chief of RTO Thane (Konkan Range), Government of Maharashtra, said, "The 'No Honking Twenty20 Series' is an incredible initiative by RSWS to raise awareness and reduce this rising concern on the road through influential cricket legends and celebrities.

"As responsible citizens of this country, it's paramount for us to be aware of the dangers of noise pollution through extreme honking. I strongly believe that this series will be able to achieve this goal as we collectively aim to limit the number of casualties on the road and curb noise pollution to addressable levels in India."
