India captain Rohit Sharma has leapfrogged former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to achieve a big milestone in international cricket.
In the second Test against West Indies at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago), Rohit became the fifth-highest run-scorer from India in international cricket.

MS Dhoni played 538 international matches in his career and amassed 17266 runs and Rohit - who made his international debut under the former's captaincy - has surpassed the legendary wicketkeeper-batter.
Rohit (17281 runs) had surpassed Dhoni (17092) in the previous Test to become the fifth-highest run-scorer for India in international cricket. But the Jharkhand cricketer had played some ICC matches as well, and that is why he was ahead of Rohit with 17266 runs under his belt in 538 matches (India & ICC).
In the match against West Indies, Rohit also completed 2000 Test runs as an opener for India. He notched up a fine fifty against WI - against whom he made his Test debut in 2013 and slammed a ton.
1. Sachin Tendulkar - 664 matches - 34357 runs
2. Virat Kohli - 500 matches - 25461 runs
3. Rahul Dravid - 504 matches - 24064 runs
4. Sourav Ganguly - 421 matches - 18433 runs
5. Rohit Sharma - 443 matches - 17281* runs
6. MS Dhoni - 535 matches - 17266 runs
In the first Test between India and West Indies - which the visitors won by an innings and 141 runs - Rohit played a valuable knock of 103 and slammed his Test career's tenth century. It was a knock of grit and determination for the senior India batter.
In the second Test, the Mumbaikar got off to yet another fine start and notched up a fine half-century and shared another century opening stand along with young Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, the right-handed batter failed to convert it into his 11th Test ton as he was dismissed for 80 by Jomel Warrican. Rohit was clean-bowled by the left-arm spinner.
