Rajasthan Royals are up against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 and Sanju Samson continues to remain out of the Toss, which implies the India star will be playing only as an Impact Player.
Sanju was not the captain for the Royals in their first two matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.

In his absence, 23-year-old Riyan Parag has been appointed as the stand-in captain for RR's first three matches of the IPL 2025 season. Parag is also playing this match against CSK in Guwahati.
Sanju Samson, the regular captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR), is currently not leading the team due to his ongoing recovery from a right index finger injury sustained during the fifth T20I against England in Mumbai earlier this year.
He underwent surgery last month and has rejoined the squad after completing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. However, he has not yet been cleared for wicketkeeping and fielding duties and is playing as a specialist batter until fully fit.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals mentioned that Samson will be playing as an Impact Player for the first three matches. Samson's recovery is on course and the India star is expected to make a comeback as RR captain soon.
The Royals are struggling this season with two defeats in the first two matches. They will have to step up against CSK to register their first points this season. Today's match will also be the last for RR at their adopted home in Guwahati as they will play their remaining five home games in Jaipur.
Sanju Samson is expected to captain the Rajasthan Royals in the match against the Punjab Kings, which will be played on April 5 in Chandigarh. With a gap of six days between the matches, Samson is expected to be fit to keep wickets and thus return as captain.
