Sanju Samson IPL Profile

Sanju Samson is an Indian Cricketer who represents the Kerala cricket team in domestic cricket and Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League. Since his debut in 2013 in IPL, he has been one of the most reliable and dynamic players. Sanju Samson is a top-order batsman who also keeps wickets.

Sanju Samson turned 28 on 11 November 2022. The Indian international's height in feet is 5 feet 7 inches and his body weight is 75 kg. His wife's name is Charulatha Samson. Sanju Samson earned his maiden BCCI Contract in the Grade C Category with a remuneration of INR 1 crore in March 2023. He was initially part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team but did not get a chance to feature for the side.

His stint with Rajasthan in 2013 was his breakthrough season. Following Rajasthan Royals' two-season ban he joined the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) side in 2016. He spent two seasons there, playing several important innings for the team before returning to the Rajasthan Royals in 2018. He is now the captain of the side since the 2021 IPL season.

In his debut year, 2013 Sanju Samson scored 206 runs in 11 matches. He scored with a strike rate of 115.73. He hit 19 fours and 5 sixes in that season. Since then he has proven himself to be a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League.

In the 2014 season, he scored 339 runs at an average of 26.07 with a strike rate of 124.17, helping the Royals reach the playoffs. The next season he scored just 204 runs at an average of 20.40 with a strike rate of 125.15. His average improved next season with 291 runs at a strike rate of 112.35 averaging 26.45 runs per game.

Since then, the right-handed batter has managed to almost outperform himself in every season. He has scored 386, 441, 342, 375, and 484 runs respectively in the last five IPL seasons.

Samson was named the 'Best Young Player of the Season' in the Indian Premier League season in 2013 for his incredible performance.

Under his captaincy, Rajasthan Royals last season reached the finals before losing against Gujarat Titans.

Sanju Samson made his international T20 debut against Zimbabwe in Harare on 19 July 2015. But it took him another six years to feature in his maiden ODI game. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo on July 23 in 2021.

Domestically playing for Kerala he has featured in 226 T20 games, scoring 5612 runs at an average of 28.63 with a strike rate of 132.01 till the 2022-23 season.
