Jaipur, Mar 28: Rajasthan Royals continued the trend of home teams winning in the IPL 2024 as they defeated Delhi Capitals by 12 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Thursday (March 28). It was the ninth game on the bounce when a home side won the game.
Under the leadership of Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals once again made a strong statement with yet another convincing win and picked up two more vital points as they continued to make Jaipur their fortress. Riyan Parag and the bowlers were the top performers for the Jaipur-based franchise.

Before this match, the two teams met each other 27 times in the IPL and out of those, the Royals won 14 and lost 13 against Delhi Capitals. With this win, the tally now goes to 15. Having posted a competitive 185/5 in 20 overs, the Royals restricted Capitals to 173/5 in 20 overs.
Riyan Parag gets the player of the match award for his unbeaten 85. With this, we come to an end to this live coverage. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
Another comprehensive performance from Rajasthan Royals bowlers as they defend another total quite convincingly. Their bowlers once again put up a good show while defending the target. RR pacers Sandeep Sharma, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, and Nandre Burger along with spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and R Aswhin did well as a bowling unit to hand their team a good win. For Delhi, their batting and bowling in the death overs cost them this game. The team's middle-order looks undercooked as they fail to overhaul the target for the second time in a row and looks heavily reliant on Marsh and Warner.
Rajasthan Royals Win! Superb over from Avesh Khan under pressure as he successfully defends 17 runs to help his team win. They've defeated Delhi Capitals by 12 runs.
With that, all nine games in IPL 2024 have been won by the home side. Another clinical performance from Royals to stay unbeaten in the competition and Delhi Capitals lose their second game on the bounce.

Good comeback from Sandeep Sharma as he concedes just 5 more runs after getting hit for 10 runs on the first two. Delhi Capitals reach 169/5 in 19 overs. DC need 17 off 6 balls, Avesh Khan will bowl the final over.
Four! Tristan Stubbs gets a boundary towards the off-side and the ball races towards the fence. 10 runs already on the first two deliveries, pressure on the bowler. DC need 22 off 1 balls

SIX!!! Tristan Stubbs hits a maximum over long-off with a tennis racquet shot.
Four! Axar Patel begins Avesh Khan over with a boundary as he guides the ball towards the wide thirdman. DC need 37 off 17 balls, are we going to see another last-over thriller tonight?
Dropped, SIX, SIX!!! Tristan Stubbs was given a breather as Trent Boult failed to judge the skier and dropped. The batter then dispatched Ashwin for two back-to-back maximums on the next two balls. Some smiles on the faces of a rather pensive DC dugout.
DC - 145/5 in 17 overs.
Wicket! Abhishek Porel fails to make an impact in this game as the southpaw gets caught at long-off by Jos Buttler for 9 (10). Yuzi Chahal gets his second scalp of the match and Delhi Capitals are five down in 15.3 overs. This game is slipping away from their hands in the run chase.
11 runs came from that Sandeep Sharma over. Delhi Capitals are 120/4 in 15 overs. They nee67 off 30 balls at 12.96 runs per over in the run chase of 186.
Wicket! Set batter Rishabh Pant (28 off 26) gets caught by Sanju Samson as he went to slice that away-going delivery from Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal has once again delivered when his team need to get rid of a big fish. Sharp catch from Samson to dismiss his opposite number.
Delhi - 105/4 in 13.1 overs. Impact Sub, Abhishek Porel, is the new man in.
Just 6 runs came from that Sandeep Sharma over. Delhi Capitals reach 105/3 in 13 overs. They need 81 more off 42 balls.
100 comes up for Delhi Capitals in the 13th over, but the last few overs have been silent for the chasing side. They need to score quickly now.
Wicket! David Warner departs for 49 off 34 balls. The in-form batter looks to cut Avesh Khan but got a thick edge and Sandeep Sharma takes the catch a short third.
DC reach 99/3 in 12 overs. Target - 186
At the end of the ninth over, Delhi Capitals have reached 80 for the loss of 2 wickets. Warner and Pant have shared a stand of 50 off 32 balls for the third wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal has been brought into the attack for the first time by skipper Sanju Samson.
Delhi Capitals are 73/2 in 8 overs. They need 113 off 72 balls. Warner - 41* and Pant - 8* are present in the middle and are keeping Delhi Capitals in the hunt in the run chase of 186.
Rishabh Pant - the DC captain - walks in the middle to bat in his 100th IPL game and gets off the mark with a boundary.
DC reach 34/2 in 4 overs, target - 186
Wicket! Nandre Burger didn't get Ricky Bhui on the previous ball as the DRH didn't go in their favour but a ripper from the left-arm pacer surprises the batter and he's gloved it. Samson takes a simple catch behind the stumps and Delhi Capitals are two down now in no time.
DC - 30/2 in 3.4 overs, target 186
Wicket! Mitchell Marsh has been clean bowled as he was trying to cut Nandre Burger's 146 kmph delivery. The Aussie departs for 23 off 12 and Delhi Capitals are one down.
DC - 30/1 in 3.2 overs. Target - 186
Good start for Delhi Capitals as they reach 29 without any loss in the run chase of 186. DC need a good partnership between their openers Warner and Marsh as their middle-order looks a little untested.
And play resumes!
The play has been stopped soon after the start of the second innings. Something similar happened in the first over of RR batting as well. There's confusion all around but the cause of it is not clear.
2nd Innings! David Warner and his Aussie teammate Mitchell Marsh are in the middle to begin the run chase of 186 for Delhi Capitals. Trent Boult - one of the best new-ball bowlers in the format - starts the proceedings with the new ball for the home team.
Riyan Parag said after his blitz: I have put in a lot of practice, I've practised against those kinds of (bowling of Nortje). I had my options ready for both sides of the wicket - I was backing my strengths, I knew I had the power, it's good when it comes off. Sanju bhai told me to take it deep, I was confident that I could get a lot of runs. It wasn't easy for a new batter to come and score, you needed someone to stay until the end. It's been tough, I'm a bit emotional now, but I have worked hard and seeing the fruits of it now.
End of the innings! An innings to remember from Riyan Parag as he along with the middle-order batters propels Rajasthan Royals to a competitive 185/5 in 20 overs. Parag - the Assam all-rounder - silenced his critics in style as he smashed an unbeaten 84 off 45 balls. The youngster's knock was laced with 7 fours and 6 sixes as he attacked almost every Delhi Capitals bowler. 25 runs came from that final over bowled by South African speed merchant Nortje.
Four & SIX!! Riyan Parag is on fire! He's hit fifth consecutive boundary off Nortje. 24 runs already
4,4,6! Riyan Parag continues his carnage in Jaipur as he hits Nortje for back-to-back boundaries and follows it up with a maximum over long-off. Riyan Parag is coming off age in this season.
SIX, Four! Shimron Hetmyer also joins the party and clobbers Mukesh Kumar for a maximum and a boundary and takes his team past the 150-run mark. This has been quite a recovery from the Royals.
Samson's exceptional unbeaten innings of 82 demonstrated his skill and leadership, setting the tone for the Royals' campaign. The notable partnership between Samson and Riyan Parag, who contributed 43 crucial runs, highlighted the team's batting depth and resilience.
Rajasthan Royals also possess a formidable bowling lineup led by experienced players such as Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Their combined efforts were instrumental in defending the total against the Super Giants, showcasing the team's balance and strategic prowess.
In contrast, Delhi Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, faced a setback in their opening match against the Punjab Kings, narrowly losing the game. Despite notable performances from Abhishek Porel, who scored an aggressive 32 not out, and Kuldeep Yadav, who delivered an impressive bowling spell, the team fell short of victory.
As Delhi Capitals prepare for their second match, they are keen to rectify their errors and deliver a stronger performance. With key players like Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer in their squad, the Capitals have the firepower to bounce back.
With statistics suggesting a closely contested match between two evenly matched teams, the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals promises to be an exciting spectacle. As both teams strive to gain momentum early in the tournament, fans can anticipate a captivating display of cricketing skill and determination at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
