New Delhi, Sep 5: Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman slammed a brilliant fifty on day one of the second Test at Chittagong.
The right-handed batsman showed immense grit and put up a resistive 105-run stand with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim for the sixth wicket. It was the partnership between Rahim and Rahman that ensured Bangladesh frustrate the visitors and keep frustrating them.
The two played contrasting cricket as Sabbir played with aggression while Mushfiqur batted with caution.
Sabbir reached his half-century off only 62 balls while Mushfiqur notched up his own fifty off 124 balls. Sabbir's stay at the crease took the advantage from the hands of the tourists who were eyeing to fold the hosts' innings to as low as possible.
Both Sabbir and Mushfiqur denied any success further to the Australian bowlers. Nathan Lyon looked dangerous as he picked up another fifer but he looked clueless in front of the duo.
At the end of the day's play, Lyon made an interesting observation though when the off-spinner said the 25-year-old batsman reminded him of Indian run machine Virat Kohli.
"He's a good player, he reminds me of Virat Kohli," said Lyon.
When Sabbir was asked about Lyon's remarks, Sabbir responded, "I can become a batsman like Virat Kohli, everything is possible. But contributing to the team is more important than being compared to someone else."
Fans were amused to hear Sabbir's comment as they laughed the cricketer's observation and even trolled him. Then there were a few who had some advice for the batsman too.
Here's how Twitterati trolled Sabbir:
