Shameful: Bangladesh newspaper insults Indian players with half-shaved heads

Dhaka, June 30: A Bangladeshi newspaper on Monday (June 29) insulted the Indian players by running an advertisement which showed MS Dhoni and others' heads half shaved after their 1-2 loss to the home team in the ODI series recently.

Bangla newspaper "Prothom Alo", in its Monday edition (Weekly humour magazine - "Rosh Alo"), published this distasteful advertisement which has left Indian fans fuming at Bangladeshis. (Dhoni pushes Mustafizur)

Dhoni-led India lost the 3-match ODI series 1-2 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur with young left-arm paceman Mustafizur Rahman being the wrecker-in-chief of the visitors' batting line-up. The 19-year-old Mustafizur captured a world record 13 wickets in 3 games.

The fake cutter advertisement in the newspaper shows Mustafizur holding a cutter and under that Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan and R Ashwin are seen holding a banner which reads "We've used it. You can use it too."

The Indian players' heads are half shaved. Next to Mustafizur's photo, it reads, "Tiger Stationery, Made in Bangladesh, Murtafiz Cutter is available in Stadium Market, Mirpur, Dhaka."

The cutter reference comes from Mustafizur's off-cutters which left Indian batsmen bamboozled during the series.

The same picture was shared on the newspaper's Facebook page and there were over 4,000 likes till this morning (June 30). The same image was shared more than 350 times and over 250 people commented in Bengali.

Former India fast bowler Atul Wassan slammed the newspaper for this shameful act and also said it is "embarrassing" for even the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and its players.

"It is embarrassing for both players and Bangladesh Cricket Board. Losing is part of the game. Nobody should be allowed to insult players like this," Wassn told "Times Now" English news channel.
