Shubman Gill Dengue: The emerging India batter was admitted to a hospital in Chennai after his platelet count dropped due to dengue fever. The India opening batter - who missed the first two ICC World Cup 2023 games - is being treated at Kaveri Hospital in Chennai.
Gill - who contracted dengue fever just before the start of the first WC game against Australia - missed Team India's opening game held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8.

The right-handed batter from Punjab didn't travel with the rest of his teammates to New Delhi, where the Rohit Sharma-led side will be facing Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday (October 11).
While addressing the 24-year-old batter's medical condition, the BCCI on Monday (October 9) released a statement, for the first time. The board revealed that the batter did not travel with the team to the national capital for the second World Cup game.
The board, however, didn't reveal that the cricketer's condition has worsened and that he has been hospitalised due to a dip in the platelet count, which is a common phenomenon with this mosquito-borne disease.
In the match against Australia, Ishan Kishan was included in the playing eleven of the Indian cricket team. However, the left-handed batter was dismissed for a duck without troubling the scorer as India were off to a disastrous start in a high-voltage encounter against Pat Cummins-led side.
The cricketer's platelet count dropped below 100,000 but has been subsequently released as he still remains a doubtful starter for the marquee World Cup clash against Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14.
Gill, who tested positive for dengue upon his arrival in Chennai last week has been down for the past week and will also miss India's second game against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
"Shubman Gill was on a drip at the Chennai team hotel for the last couple of days. However his platelet count dropped to 70,000 and as it is the case with dengue patients, once the count is below 100,000, you are admitted to a medical facility as a precautionary measure.
"He was admitted for all mandatory tests on Sunday night when India played Australia but by Monday evening was released," a BCCI source was quoted by PTI on conditions of anonymity.
