Sourav Ganguly elected as new president of Cricket Association of Bengal

Kolkata, Sep 24: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been elected as the new president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) following the demise of veteran administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya.

The official declaration over the same came after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Ganguly, who is a joint secretary of the CAB, and finalised his name.

Sourav Ganguly is new CAB president

Earlier this evening, Ganguly arrived at the state secretariat along with Dalmiya's son Avishek and held an hour-long meeting with the chief minister.

Dalmiya's son Avishek has been chosen as the new joint secretary of the CAB.

After being elected as CAB president Ganguly said, "I will try and do my best. Am taking over immediately, since we have a very big role to fill."

"I am thankful to my colleagues for giving me this responsibility," he further added.

Speculations were right that former India captain might take over as the new CAB chief after sudden demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya.
