Pretoria, Feb 2: In yet another setback for South Africa, skipper Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI and T20I series against India due to an injured finger.
The Protea skipper sustained an injury on his finger while fielding against India in the first ODI at Kingsmead, Durban.
As per reports, Farhaan Behardien and Heinrich Klaasen have been added to the ODI squad as cover for the injured skipper. The 26-year-old Klaasen is yet to make his international debut but the wicketkeeper has been in sparkling form of late.
In an Instagram post, Du Plessis wrote: "Thanx [sic] for all the kind messages. Not a result we wanted in the 1st game but a lot of cricket left in the series.
"Gutted to be out injured for the rest of the series with a fractured finger. Looking forward to see some big performances from the men in green and gold."
South Africa were already a depleted side in the absence of their seasoned campaigner AB de Villiers, who has been out of the side for the first three ODIs. Du Plessis' injury at a time when the team is 1-0 down in the ODI series will come as a major blow to the hosts.

Du Plessis was the highest scorer from the side in the first ODI as he slammed a composed ton and took his team to a respectable total after top order failed in front of India's spin attack.
The right-handed batsman scored 120 in the game but his captain's knock went in vain as India overhauled the target quite comfortably and won the match by 6 wickets. The defeat against India in the opening ODI ended the Proteas 17-match unbeaten home run.
Du Plessis felt the hosts were 60 runs short after electing to bat first on a Durban surface that progressively quickened up.
