SRH made it all the way to the finals under Pat Cummins' captaincy but lost to KKR in the final. They will look to make adjustments wherever necessary so that they can get their hands on the trophy for the second time.

SRH took the bold calls by releasing as many as five overseas players from their arsenal. While they retained big names such as Pat Cummins (captain), Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen for their match-winning potential, the franchise let go of the other players, perhaps due to lack of game time, form or fitness issues.

South African cricketer Aiden Markram, who led the Sunrisers Hyderabad's sister franchise, Sunrisers Eastern Cape to consecutive titles in SA20, was released by SRH after not meeting the team management's expectations.

Glenn Phillips, the New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman, was another overseas player released by SRH. He joined SRH for INR 1.4 crore before the 2022 season got limited playing time and hence SRH released him to free up space in the squad.

Marco Jansen, the towering South African pacer, was also let go. Jansen had been valued for his ability to generate bounce and his knack for taking crucial wickets in the powerplay overs but that didn't prove to be the case. He was bought by SRH for INR 4.2 crore in 2022. However, he played only three matches last season. Known for his new-ball wickets, he struggled to stop runs and lacked impact in the first place.

Wanindu Hasaranga who missed the 2024 season due to a heel injury was also released by the SRH franchise. The Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi did not play for the franchise in the 2024 IPL was also released.

Earlier, SRH retained players worth INR 75 crore (Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins). They are left with INR 45 crore from their total INR 120 crore budget. This remaining purse gives SRH the flexibility to make strategic moves, which would let them to balance high-impact talent with calculated spending to build a squad capable of seizing the IPL title.
