Lucknow Super Giants have bolstered their IPL Playoff hopes with a fabulous victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday (May 13) at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium.
A brilliant batting performance from Nicholas Pooran and Prerak Mankad guided them to a 7-wicket victory. With the win, LSG have now elevated themselves to the 4th position in the IPL table, with 13 points after 12 matches. SRH are almost eliminated from the tournament and remain 9th in the table.

SRH scored 182/6 in their 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen (47 off 29 balls) played a superb knock while Abdul Samad (37 off 25 balls) and Anmolpreet Singh (36 off 27 balls) also played their part. It was a match fuelled with controversy as the Hyderabad crowd pelted nuts and bolts to the LSG dug-out, which halted the game for a bit and kind of halted the momentum of SRH at the latter stages of their batting.
Chasing 183, LSG had a slow start. They lost Kyle Mayers early, but Prerak Mankad (64 not out) played a brilliant hand and held their chase together. But the momentum of the match shifted in Abhishek Sharma's crazy over, which cost the SRH 31 runs.
Nicholas Pooran scored a stormy 44 off just 13 balls to take LSG home with four balls to spare. The win firms their playoff grip whereas the SRH lost another match from an advantageous position to extinguish their playoff chances.

Aiden Markram (SRH Captain): "I thought it was a decent score, I thought 180 was par. We batted well, probably lacked one partnership that could have got us to the 200-run mark. The wicket got slower throughout the day, we would have taken this total at the start. When you are put under pressure by high-quality players like Stoinis and Pooran, you are going to be tested. It's about the guys using the next three games as opportunities, they must make it count."
Krunal Pandya (LSG Captain): "I guess the way they were going, we pulled it back. The way Yash and Avesh bowled showed their character. It was a good total and we had to bat well."
"At this level, anything is possible. We had the belief and players like Pooran, Stoinis are amazing. Pooran's self-belief and confidence is amazing. We knew we had to go as we needed 80-90 runs in the last six overs. Luckily Abhishek went for 5 sixes and changed the momentum."
(On Prerak Mankad) "He is playing his first game and the way he batted shows a lot of character and shows he is hungry. It will boost his confidence."
