SRH vs LSG IPL 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad supporters threw nuts and bolts at Prerak Mankad, claims Jonty Rhodes

IPL 2023: In the wake of a poor no-ball DRS call from the on-field umpires, Sunrisers Hyderabad supporters resorted to unruly behaviour during the IPL 2023 match against Luknow Super Giants which halted the game for some time.

The SRH supporters who weren't happy with the decision of the umpires vented their ire by throwing an object towards the LSG dugout where the players and support staff were seated.

As per a Cricbuzz report, the fans threw nuts and bolts towards the LSG dugout but later team's fielding coach and legendary South Africa cricketer revealed that the unruly fans targeted the players. India cricketer Prerak Mankad was hit by objects thrown at him and Jonty Rhodes confirmed it. Rhodes tweeted, "Not at the dugout, but at the players. They hit Prerak Mankad on the head while he was fielding at long-on. #noton"

The on-field umpires Akshay Totre, J Madangopal and TV umpire Yeshwant Barde earned the fans' ire during the penultimate over of Sunrisers Hyderabad's innings batting at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Avesh Khan bowled what looked like a beamer to Abdul Samad and Totre didn't adjudge it a no-ball. SRH called for a DRS but to their horror, Barde also ruled it in favour of the bowling team. Chants of 'Kohli, Kohli' after no-ball drama triggers fans, SRH vs LSG match halted momentarily

An angry Klaasen spoke to on-field umpires and suddenly one saw LSG head coach Andy Flower and mentor Gautam Gambhir along with others in the dugout, standing inside the boundary rope, pointing at the stands which is exactly behind their team area.

Earlier it was claimed that someone from the crowd had thrown something and there were collective chants of "Kohli Kohli" in their bid to rile Gambhir up in reference to his bust-up with former India captain Virat Kohli earlier this month.

Once the match started, Klaasen was immediately holed out at long-on, having lost his concentration due to the unwanted stoppage. He didn't hold back his anger while speaking to broadcasters during the mid-innings snap interview. "Disappointed with the crowd, to be honest, that's not what you want. That also broke the momentum, not great umpiring either," Klaasen said.

To the disappointment of the local fans, Aiden Markram-led SRH lost the game despite dominating it with the ball for the most part. The 16th over was bowled by Abhishek Sharma tilted the game in favour of LSG - the chasing side. The part-time spinner was hit for five sixes in that over and leaked 32 runs in that over and LSG turned the game in their favour.

LSG notched a crucial win to get into the top 4, after two defeats and a no result, with this win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mankad made his mark with a crucial knock 64* off 45 of as impactful breezy knocks from Marcus Stoinis (40 off 25) and Nicholas Pooran (44* off13) sparked a brilliant comeback to achieve LSG a seven-wicket win.

Later, Heinrich Klaasen was been fined 10 Percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Klaasen admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.7 which states the use of public criticism/inappropriate comment in the IPL's Code of Conduct.

LSG spinner Amit Mishra has been reprimanded for breaching the IPL's Code of Conduct. Mr Mishra admitted to level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of IPL's Code of Conduct which states the abuse of equipment during the match. Mishra accepted the sanction.
