  • This will be just the 12th meeting in men’s T20Is between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and the first since the Tigers ran out to a two-wicket win against the Lions in March 2018.
  • Bangladesh have won three of their last five men’s T20I encounters against Sri Lanka (L2) including their last two in a row, their longest such streak against the Lions.
  • This will be just the second meeting in men’s T20Is between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at a neutral venue; the Lions ran out victors by 64 runs the last time the two sides played at such venue in September 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
  • Bangladesh have a winning rate of 58% in men’s T20Is since the beginning of 2021 having won 11 of their 19 games this year; only England – 64% and New Zealand – 62% have a better such rate among full-member sides (min. 5 games).
  • Sri Lankan batters have averaged a boundary once every 6.3 balls in the ongoing men’s T20 World Cup, the best rate for any team in the competition.
  • Sri Lanka (55%) and Bangladesh (50%) had the best bowling dot ball rate in Round 1 of the ongoing men’s T20 World Cup; whilst 159 of 288 Sri Lankan deliveries were dot balls, Bangladesh bowled 177 dot balls of their 357 deliveries.
  • Sri Lanka have a catch success rate of 71% in the ongoing men’s T20 World Cup having caught 10 of their 14 chances presented to them in the tournament; this is the second poorest such rate in the competition after Namibia’s – 67%.
  • Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) requires four more wickets to become the fourth bowler in men’s T20 cricket to scalp 400 wickets in the format; only Dwayne Bravo (551), Sunil Narine (425) and Imran Tahir (420) are the other players to have achieved the landmark.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka) has picked up 26 wickets in men’s T20Is since the beginning of 2021, only South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi (29) has picked up more wickets among bowlers from the Test playing nations in the format during this period.
  • Lahiru Kumara (Sri Lanka) has a bowling average of 5.4 in men’s T20I cricket since the beginning of 2021, the best rate for any bowler from a Test playing nation (min. 10 overs); he is also the bowler to have the best economy rate from a Test playing nation (3.6) during the period (min. 10 overs).
