T20 World Cup 2024: Sanju Samson Among 4 RR Players in Brian Lara's Picks For India Squad

West Indies great Brian Lara has picked Sanju Samson among four players from the top-performing IPL 2024 team Rajasthan Royals in his preferred 15-member Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

As the 20 teams prepare to announce their squads for the show-piece event in USA and the Caribbean, all the focus is on the Indian squad as the deadline of May 1st looms.

Star Sports, the broadcasters of the T20 World Cup and IPL, have launched a #VisaToWorldCup campaign in which the experts from their panel have shared their possible 15 players to board the flight towards the west in the end of May.

In a social media post by Star Sports, Lara unveiled his dream roster, led by skipper Rohit Sharma. Like most of the squads doing the rounds, Lara too preferred Rohit, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.

While there have been question marks over Hardik Pandya's possible inclusion, the former West Indies batter's squad included the Mumbai Indians skipper as the pace-bowling all-rounder alongside the much-hyped Shivam Dube, who is hardly getting to field let alone get to bowl.

Lara's proposed squad also includes promising youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mayank Yadav alongside a few more top performers from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), where the West Indies legend is working as commentator and expert.

Lara also picked Samson as the second wicketkeeper-batter along with the returning Rishabh Pant. There has been much debate about Samson's inclusion among others on the Star Sports commentators panel with KL Rahul also making a case.

Ishan Kishan, Dhruv Jurel, Jitesh Sharma and even Dinesh Karthik have been suggested for the spot in recent weeks. However, Lara stuck to the current form and ability to perform under-pressure, and picked Samson over the rest in his 15-member squad.

While Jadeja was the lone spin-bowling all-rounder, Lara also reunited the Kul-Cha combo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal as his specialist spinners. Bumrah will spearhead the attack with three more pacers likely to fight for one or two spots.

Sandeep Sharma, who has been doing splendidly bowling at all stages of the game for RR, has also made Lara's possible picks alongside the latest speed sensation Mayank Yadav and the left-arm option in Arshdeep Singh. Here is a look at Lara's preffered squad:
