There was lack of communication, unrest in the dressing room: MS Dhoni

Brisbane, Dec 20: India captain MS Dhoni has revealed there was lack of communication in the dressing room at the start of the 4th day's play in the second Test against Australia here today.

Dhoni said they did not handle the situation very well at the start of play in Brisbane when Shikhar Dhawan was injured in the nets and Virat Kohli had to be rushed to bat with Cheteshwar Pujara. The Indian team management had blamed 'worn out' wickets for Dhawan's injury.

Dhawan was hit on his right wrist while batting in the nets before play. And as a result of that, Kohli had to walk out to bat at the start of play on Saturday.

India were bowled out for 224, setting a small target of 128 to win for Australia. The hosts panicked and lost 6 wickets but won to take a 2-0 lead in the four-match series.

"There was a lack of communication in our dressing room over whether Shikhar (Dhawan) will go into bat or Virat (Kohli). We did not handle that situation well," Dhoni said in his post-match comments today.

"We were having a bat at the nets, the wickets were not very good and he (Shikhar Dhawan) got hit. He did not react too badly so we thought he was fine to bat. By the time he came in he was in a lot of pain and was unable to bat. We were only able to give Virat (Kohli) 5 to 7 minutes to prepare. That created some unrest in the dressing room," the captain added.

Kohli was bowled by Mitchell Johnson for just 1 run off 11 balls. Dhawan batted later after the fall of 5th wicket and topscored with 81.

The third Test starts in Melbourne on December 26.
