
Chennai, Feb 23: The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is having its first-ever players' auction as a total of 942 players go under the hammer ahead of the seventh season.
All the players shortlisted for the auction, which is being organised by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), belong to the state.
Several international players and IPL contracted players have also been included in the players' list for the auction. They have been categorised upon their experience at the international and domestic circuits and their base price have been set accordingly.
TNCA started the TNPL in 2016 amid much fanfare and the tournament has gone from strength to strength. The domestic T20 cricket tournament has given several players to the state.
Shahrukh Khan, N Jagadeesan and R Sai Kishore are some of the products of TNPL and they are now regular members of the senior Tamil Nadu cricket team across all formats.
The TNPL 2023 Players' Auction is organised at a hotel in Mahabalipuram, 55 km away from Chennai.
The TNPL 2023 Auction is a two-day affair. It is being held on February 23 and 24.
The players' auction for TNPL 2023 commenced at 12 PM (IST).

The entire bidding process of the TNPL 2023 Auction is being live telecasted on Star Sports Tamil.

Category A - INR 10 lakhs for Category A (Tamil Nadu Players who have played international games)
Category B - INR 6 lakhs for Category B (players who have represented senior BCCI domestic matches)
Category C - INR 3 Lakhs for Category C (players who are not in Category A or B but who have played more than 30 TNPL matches)
Category D - INR 1.50 Lakhs for Category D players (other players).
