Trinidad's Iraq Thomas smashes T20 century in 21 balls, breaks Chris Gayle's record

Trinidad, May 1: A 23-year-old cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago has created world record by smashing fastest hundred in T20 in just 21 deliveries.

Iraq Thomas, from the land of legendary Brian Lara, has blasted Jamaican Chris Gayle out of the record books.

The match was organised by Tobago Cricket Association.

As per a report published in NDTV, Iraq Thomas has been making headlines since he scored a 31-ball 131 on Sunday. He was playing for Scarborough/Mason Hall United in a match organized by Tobago Cricket Association at Louis D'Or.

Chasing Speyside's target of 152, the 23-year-old amassed 131 off 31 balls to finish off the contest in just eight overs. Thomas hit 15 sixes and five fours in his whirlwind innings.

"I never thought I would get the runs as quickly as I did but after hitting a few, I realised that something special can happen out there and it came through," Thomas told the local Trinidad media.

His previous best knock was a 53-ball 97.
