BCCI seeks Virat's help? Asks Kohli to choose between Kumble, Shastri as India's next coach: Reports

New Delhi, June 22: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly sought India's Test skipper Virat Kohli's suggestion over appointment of team's new head coach.

Kohli has reportedly been asked to choose between Ravi Shastri and Anil Kumble as Team's new coach.

Virat Kohli asked to choose between Kumble, Shastri as India's next coach: Reports

"Kohli will have to send his recommendation to the Board by Wednesday," a source close to BCCI was quoted by India Today as saying.

BCCI's three-member cricket advisory committee, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly, took interviews for India's coach at a city hotel in Kolkata.

Former captain Anil Kumble, Ravi Shastri along with former cricketers Pravin Amre and Lalchand Rajput and former Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody on Tuesday (June 21) made their respective presentations for India's coach.

The candidates met the panel comprising Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar who joined via video conference from London, while former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale who is the 'coordinator' of the selection process assisted the trio.

Kohli had, last month, confirmed that he asked former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori for coaching Team India.

Daniel Vettori is the chief coach of Virat Kohli's IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
