Mohali, Nov 5: Team India skipper Virat Kohli, who is celebrating his 27th birthday on Thursday, failed to make it a special one on the opening day of the first Test against South Africa.
In a setback to all Virat Kohli fans, who hoped their favourite cricketer will give them a pleasant gift on his birthday, the skipper was out after scoring just 1 run. In his short stay at the crease Virat faced played just 4 deliveries when he was caught at short cover.

This is also Virat Kohli's first Test match at home as a skipper, thus, expectations were high that the new skipper would entertain the audiences with his batting after he won the toss. (1st Test: Match Report: India in trouble at 82/3)
India were in slight trouble when the skipper came out into the middle after a set Cheteshwar Pujara departed. India were 63/2 when the skipper arrived at the crease. The skipper was welcomed a huge cheer from a sparse crowd present in the stadium. But, Virat too went back to pavilion after adding two more runs on the scoreboard.
Earlier, electing to bat on a slow and low PCA wicket, India lost Shikhar Dhawan without a run on board but Murali Vijay (40 batting) and Cheteshwar Pujara (31) steadied the boat with a 63-run stand only to see the bowlers strike back.
