With 54 coming in his final innings of the tournament, Virat Kohli ended this season with incredible 973 runs under his belt.

With this, the Orange Cap winner of the tournament became the highest run-getter in a single season of any tournament in the history of the game.

With his incredible hitting knocks throughout the tournament, the Indian run machine remained just a run short of equalling Sir Don Bradman's record 974 runs in 1930 Ashes Test series against England. (Sunrisers Hyderabad win IPL 2016: Twitter reaction)

With 4110 runs, the RCB opener also went past Suresh Raina (4098) by once again becoming the highest run getter in the history of IPL.

Earlier in the day, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper and opener David Warner became the second batsman to have aggregated 800-plus runs in an IPL tournament.

Warner, who had a fantastic IPL season with bat, has already scored the most runs by an Australian in the tournament, after going past Michael Hussey's mark of 733 runs during IPL 2013.
