Virat Kohli Gautam Gambhir had a 45-minute chat days before their ugly spat

It has been a week since Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir split the nation in two after their aggressive verbal confrontation at the Ekana Stadium.

On May 1, after RCB's win over LSG in Lucknow, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were involved in an ugly confrontation. The pair were at odds with alleged abuse on the field and had a verbal spat between them.

Kohli and Gambhir both were punished for their behaviour and it is to see how things pan out in the future. They were stripped of their complete match fee and Kohli is set to be fined around INR 1.25 crore for his involvement.

But a new report says that the pair were not so animated days before when they met in Bangalore, in LSG's trip to play RCB in the reverse fixture. Naturally, their heated confrontation created shockwaves among the LSG camp and players.

An image emerged on social media of both Gambhir and Kohli along with LSG's assistant coach Vijay Dahiya, which was later confirmed that both Delhi boys had a positive and cordial chat for around 45 minutes before LSG's clash against RCB in April.

Hence the LSG camp was 'shocked' to see how things unfolded at the Ekana Stadium. Gambhir and Kohli's complicated relationship has been dissected a lot in the past few days, but what transpired between them has created confusion among many.

A Dainik Jagran report has claimed the sudden change in the relation between Gambhir and Kohli was due to the latter's abuse to Kyle Mayers in the last Monday's (May 1) clash. It says Kohli abused Mayers after the Windies player got out.

Kohli then had a spat on field with Naveen-ul-Haq, as he apparently told the Afghan player "You don't know me, who I am," before saying Mohammed Siraj, "Hit the ball on his head".

Siraj, after listening to Kohli, hit the ball on the stumps instead. Kohli has subsequently denied the allegations and claimed to BCCI he had only instructed Siraj to bowl a bouncer.

The report also says Kohli latter complained to LSG team management about Naveen-ul-Haq's aggression and said it was not his fault. But Gautam Gambhir on the other hand said, "If someone abuses my players, no matter which country my player is from, I will support him."
