On the first day, after taking 8 wickets, Lyon had compared Kohli to "snake's head". He had got the batsman out LBW for 12. India were bundled out for 189.

"Everybody wants to compete against the best and he (Kohli) is one of the best players in the world. He is obviously the head of the snake if you want to put it in Dale Steyn's terms. If you an take that, the body will fall away. So it's quite pleasing to take Kohli's wicket," Lyon had said on Saturday (March 4).

As India wrapped up a gripping contest at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 4 days, it was Kohli's turn to hit back at Australia.

Kohli decribed the victory as the "best one" under his captaincy till date. And he did not forget to remind the Australians that Team India was not about only him and there were 10 others. (Smith admits mistake, says he had 'brain fade')

"Everyone got along together, we showed the team spirit, and a lot of people were talking about the head of the snake, but I think the snake did pretty well by itself, so it's not just about one individual," Kohli said.

"I'm pretty happy if they keep focussing on the head of the snake, and the snake can sting from a lot of directions. I think some people need to keep that in mind, but I thought (this was) the sweetest victory for us," he added.

(Smith criticised for trying to 'cheat')

Kohli's remarks came after Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane played big roles in victory.

The match also saw Decision Review System (DRS) controversy when Australian captain Steve Smith tried to seek help from the dressing room to use the technology after being given out LBW.
