Sehwag, who retired from international cricket in October this year, was honoured by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (December 3) at his home ground - Feroz Shah Kotla. The Indian cricket board felicitated him before the start of the 4th Test between India and South Africa. (Watch Sehwag's full interview here)

The 37-year-old Sehwag, who received the honour from BCCI, was applauded by the players of both India and South African teams. The former opener thanked everyone who had supported him throughout his career.

Later, speaking to "Star Sports" TV, Sehwag revealed that he had told his sons Aryavir and Vedant (who were with him at the time), the he would gift them a Ferrari if they go past 319.

Sehwag holds the record for scoring India's highest individual score in Test cricket - 319. He achieved the feat in Chennai in 2008, against South Africa. India's top 3 highest scores in Tests belong to Sehwag (319, 309 and 293). He is the only triple centurion from India.

"I have told my sons that if they score more than 319 in any form of cricket, let it be in school, Under-16 or Under-19, I will gift a Ferrari. It is a motivation for them," Sehwag said.

It can be recalled that during the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2014, Sehwag had scored a century for Kings XI Punjab after having promised his son.

"My son's friends were teasing him about his father not scoring runs and I told him, hold on beta, there is still time. During the last couple of games I wanted to focus on my batting and had to win at least one game for Kings XI Punjab," Sehwag had said after scoring a 58-ball 122 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
