Wankhede Stadium Stats and Records: The venue in Mumbai, which is the home to the BCCI, IPL and Mumbai Cricket Association, has hosted several historic and high-profile matches over the years.
India's 'cricket capital' boasts another colossal venue which acted as a host to the five matches, including semi-final in ICC World Cup 2023. The distinct red-soil pitch has seen some monumental feats in the sport since it was built in 1974.

From Sachin Tendulkar's masterful innings in the 1996 Men's Cricket World Cup to left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel's 10/119 bowling figures for New Zealand against India, and the World Cup clinching six from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the venue is used to providing magical moments.
The Wankhede Stadium, one of the ten host venues during the ICC World Cup 2023, first hosted a match on October 21 when England met South Africa followed by the second meeting that also featured South Africa, who met Bangladesh on October 24.
In November, the iconic Wankhede Stadium will play hosts to the home side - Team India when they take on Sri Lanka in a rematch from the 2011 Final followed by another interesting clash when Australia face Afghanistan. After the four league matches, the venue will host the first semifinal.
The venue has hosted as many as 57 international matches so far and many IPL matches over the years. The venue has also been host to six World Cup matches earlier with 2 matches in 1987, one match in 1996, and three matches in 2011.
In 1987, India beat Zimbabwe by 8 wickets, while England beat the home side by 35 runs. In 1996, Australia beat India by 16 runs in the only match at the venue in Mumbai.
In 2011, the venue saw New Zealand beat Canada and Sri Lanka by a massive 97 runs and 112 runs respectively before India beat Sri Lanka in the final by 6 wickets to lift the title for the second time in their history.
Since the 2011 World Cup, the venue in Mumbai has played hosts to five ODI matches, which have seen four matches end in favour of the team chasing, while in the only match that saw the team bat first win the contest saw South Africa post a total of 438/4.
