Want Legends League Cricket As A Natural Second Innings for Retired Cricketers Co-Founder Raman Raheja

Ahead of the LLC 2024, the league's co-founder Raman Raheja sat down for an exclusive interview with MyKhel, offering insights into the new season, its growing importance, and its significance.

LLC: A Second Innings for Retired Players

Raheja emphasized that the LLC has become a "natural second inning" for recently retired players. "We've just seen Dinesh Karthik, Shikhar Dhawan, and Kedar Jadhav retire and join the league. LLC is not just about bringing back cricketers from yesteryears but showcasing recently retired stars who can still compete at a high level," Raheja said.

For fans, this means the opportunity to see their favourite players back in action, not just in exhibition matches but in competitive cricket. "The fans expect the same level of cricket they saw during these players' prime years, and that's what we aim to deliver," Raheja added.

Cricket Returns to Srinagar After Four Decades

One of the standout aspects of the upcoming season is LLC's expansion into Srinagar, marking the return of high-level cricket to the region after nearly four decades. "When we went to Jammu last year after 35 years, the response was overwhelming. This year, we're taking it to Srinagar, and it's going to be historic," Raheja shared, clearly proud of the impact LLC is making.

For Srinagar, this isn't just about hosting a cricket tournament. The arrival of over 120 cricket legends in the city is expected to boost the region's sporting culture and tourism. "Bringing top-quality cricket to a sensitive region like Srinagar is a massive achievement. It's not just a tournament; it's about inspiring the youth, giving them a chance to see their heroes live, and boosting the overall sporting culture," Raheja explained.

LLC 2024 To Spur Tourism, Provide Cultural Boost

When asked about the impact on tourism, Raheja was quick to highlight how the event will add to the allure of Srinagar and Jammu. "The tourism sector is already flourishing in both regions, but the LLC will provide a big boost. When so many legends gather in one place, it's a major cultural and sporting event. It's a chance for youngsters to see their idols, interact with them, and draw motivation," he said.

The Competitive Spirit and Fan Engagement

One of the key aspects of the LLC is that it isn't just an exhibition of cricketing skills. "This is competitive cricket, not exhibition cricket," Raheja stated firmly. "Fans expect the same high-level performances they saw during these players' international careers. When they see a recently retired player like Dinesh Karthik or Shikhar Dhawan back on the field, they want competitive intensity, and we've delivered that in the past."

Raheja noted the rising fan engagement, citing the massive crowds seen in cities like Jodhpur, Surat, and Jammu during previous seasons. "Fans are coming in large numbers to the stadiums, and we expect even more engagement this year," he added.

Legends Beyond Players at LLC 2024: Umpires Join the Fray

In an exciting development for the 2024 season, LLC is not only focused on bringing retired players back but is also expanding to include retired umpires. "We're aiming to take the entire ecosystem with us - not just cricketers but support staff as well. This season, we're bringing in legendary umpires like Billy Bowden and Nigel Llong, who umpired for many years at the international level," Raheja revealed.

In addition to adding these legends of the game, the LLC will be launching a new technology, an adaptation of the DRS system, that's Made in India. "It's going to be an interesting opportunity to see retired umpires working with cutting-edge technology, providing fans with an even more exciting experience," Raheja said.

'LLC 2024 Will Be A Season to Remember'

With so many legends returning to action, Srinagar's historic hosting, and the introduction of technological innovations, the LLC 2024 season promises to be a landmark one. For cricket fans across the globe, it's an opportunity to witness their favourite players once again, as the league continues to grow into a cultural phenomenon.

"LLC is about more than just cricket-it's about bringing legends back, inspiring the next generation, and creating memorable sporting experiences for fans," Raheja concluded.
