In Yesterday's Asia Cup 2023 match, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets via DLS in a rain-affected match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and qualified for the Asia Cup 2023 Final. The Sri Lankan cricket team won the game on the last ball of the match and chased down the target of 252 for the loss of eight wickets and knocked Pakistan out of the continental competition.
Batting first, Pakistan - who were being led by Babar Azam - elected to bat first in what was a virtual knockout game between the two as the winner qualified for the final. The match was reduced to 42-overs-per-side after rain delayed the start of match on its scheduled time.

Pakistan - who made five changes to their playing eleven in the must-win game - posted a decent 252 for the loss of seven wickets in 42 overs as Mohammed Rizwan smashed a 73-ball 86 and shared a century stand with Iftikhar Ahmed (47 off 40 balls). Opener Abdullah Shafeeq slammed a gritty half-century.
Young Sri Lankan right-arm pacer Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers for his team as he bagged three wickets against Pakistan but leaked too many runs (3/65 from 8 overs) as well.
In reply, Sri Lanka reached home on the final ball of the 42nd over as Charith Asalanka (49*) took the winning double for his team and helped them secure an ODI win over Pakistan for the first time since 2015.
Wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis starred with the bat for Sri Lanka in the run chase and scored a valiant 91, but missed out on a well-deserved century. Mendis was named the player of the match for his match-winning effort in a high-pressure game
