Will selectors give 'experienced' Yuvraj Singh a chance for Australia series?

New Delhi, Dec 18: Amid speculations over Ravindra Jadeja's likely comeback in the Indian squad for the upcoming limited-overs series in Australia, it will be interesting to see if the national selectors will set their gaze over 'in form' Yuvraj Singh, who is making right noises in the domestic circuit.

In the ongoing domestic Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Punjab left-hander has so far scored 243 runs at an average of 81 and a strike-rate of 98.

Yuvraj to get a place in Team India?

He is in good shape and the selectors consider him for the upcoming series for he's one of the experienced batters Team India is looking for in the middle order.

Yuvraj Singh comes in handy as a spin bowler and his athleticism on-field is not hidden from the world. Also, Yuvraj carries fair enough experience of playing under Australian conditions and his performance on fast pitches has been good.

The Punjab left-hander, who debuted against the Aussies 15-years-back, owns a reputation of Australia's nemesis since 2000.

Yuvraj has scored 981 runs, including two centuries and four fifties at a strike-rate of 85 and an average close to 30 in the ODIs. However, in the Twenty20 format this destructive player has decimated the Australian bowling.

In 6 games played against Aussies, Yuvraj has blasted 244 runs at a whopping average of 61.75 and a strike-rate of 170. Yuvraj's innings of 70 runs in just 30 deliveries against Australia in 2007 World T20 semi finals is one of the most remembered knocks.

Team India's poor performance in the ODI series against South Africa brought into spotlight MS Dhoni & Co's lack of experience. Even skipper Dhoni blamed the inexperience of Indian batsmen for the team's humiliating ODI series defeat.

Earlier in Oct this year, former Indian Captain and commentator Sunil Gavaskar said he felt bad when 34-year-old left-hander was ignored during announcement of Indian Test squad against South Africa.

Gavaskar was hoping that experienced Yuvraj Singh, who smashed a superb 187 for Punjab against Gujarat in their Ranji Trophy match, will be included in the India squad.

Hence, it will be interesting to see if national selectors will give Yuvraj a chance or prefer youngsters over experience.
