Bachchan said the Bangladeshi team's passion for the game caught his eyes.

"Their (Bangladesh team) passion for the game is really noticeable. Such passion can't grow, if you don't have love for your country. I watched them when they beat Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Their looks tell you that they played only to win. I didn't see such passion in all the 11 players for a long time," the daily quoted him as saying.

Bachchan, 73, said Bangladesh has come a long way since its independence in 1971. He praised the Bangladeshi sporting fraternity for its passion to do something for the country.

"There is an urge in all to take the country forward in all aspects. A few days ago I saw a Bangladeshi girl (Mabia Akhtar) topping an international event. She was standing in the victory stand with the gold medal around her neck. She had tears in eyes while the national anthem was being played. It doesn't happen if you don't have love for your country," the report quoted the actor as saying.

The megastar also expressed his wish to visit Bangladesh, especially the Sunderbans and Chittagong.

Bachchan said he will watch the T20 World Cup game between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (March 16).

He also praised Sakib al Hasan and Musafizur Rahman, two talented players of the Bangladeshi side.
