One interesting aspect of India's campaigns in T20 World Cups is that whenever MS Dhoni's team has beaten both Pakistan and Australia in an edition, they have gone on to make the final.

So far, this has happened twice---in 2007 and 2014.

In 2007, India beat Pakistan twice and Australia once while on their way to win the trophy. They beat their arch-rivals in a thrilling bowl-out in the group stage and then by five runs in the final held at Johannesburg. They beat Australia by 15 runs in a high-scoring semif-final at Durban. In 2014 also, India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets and Australia by 73 runs, both at Mirpur in Bangladesh, in the Super Ten stage. India then went on to play the final against Sri Lanka but lost the game by 6 wickets.
