World T20: MS Dhoni gives 5 reasons for India's semi-final defeat

Mumbai, April 1: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, among other factors, blamed the 2 no-balls by his bowlers for the team's exit from the ICC World Twenty20 tournament last night (March 31).

MS Dhoni plays a shot against West Indies in the World T20 semi-final

India scored 192/2 in 20 overs at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in the second semi-final against the Darren Sammy-led Caribbean side. However, that total was not enough to take them to the title round.

Lendl Simmons, playing his first match of the tournament after drafted into the side as a replacement, smashed an unbeaten 82 to star with the bat.

At the post-match press conference Dhoni gave reasons for India's loss. Here are the 5 main reasons, according to him.

1. "Bad toss to lose"

2. "Half an hour early start" (7 PM IST). All league matches started at 7.30 PM

3. 30 more runs "would have been really nice"

4. Dew

5. "Disappointed" with 2 no-balls (Simmons was caught (when on 18 and 50) off 2 no-balls, 1 each from Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya)

Here is what Dhoni said

"You know, 30 more would have been really nice. But you have to realise it was half an hour early start, a bad toss to lose, so when they started batting the first few overs were fine, but after that there was a considerable amount of dew which meant the spinner couldn't bowl how they would have liked to."

"The only thing I'm disappointed about are the two no-balls. Other than that we tried our best and even if the conditions were not in favour of the spinners, whatever resources we had we tried our best in the game."
