World T20 'quarter-final' against India: Mohali ground suits us more, says Glenn Maxwell

Mohali, March 26: Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is happy that they will face India in the "quarter-final" of ICC World Twenty20 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, the venue, which according to him "suits" the team. (Match preview)

On Friday (March 24), Australia defeated Pakistan by 21 runs at the same ground to set up a "knockout" showdown against hosts India in Mohali on Sunday (March 27).

The winner of Sunday's clash goes through to the semi-finals. Both India and Australia have so far won 2 games each in Group 2 of the Super 10 Stage. New Zealand are already through to the knockouts with 3 victories in 3.

"It's like a quarter-final I suppose," Maxwell told Cricket Australia's (CA) website after yesterday's victory over Pakistan.

The right-hander said the team enjoyed playing under pressure and they were ready for the big clash.

"It's a similar position to the one we were in last year - we had to win the last three games to win the World Cup (2015). It's a good position to be in; we like to put the pressure on ourselves in these positions where we have to win. It's something that we thrive on," he explained.

One of the key players for tomorrow's contest, Maxwell said they liked to play at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, again.

"We're lucky enough to play on this ground again, it's a ground that probably suits us more than a few others in India - it's bigger, the wicket is nice and true, it bounces nice for us and hopefully it can make for a good spectacle in a couple of days," he said.

In recent meetings, India hold the edge over their rivals, having whitewashed them 3-0 in January in Australia.
