The highly-anticipated Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 Auction is set to be held on Saturday (December 9) in Mumbai as the five franchisees will look to plug the holes in their bid to prepare a strong team ahead of WPL 2024.
The second season of the WPL is likely to be held in February-March ahead of the IPL 2024. Unlike the inaugural edition, which was held in one city, the tournament will take place in Mumbai and Bengaluru in 2024.

The WPL 2024 Auction will be held at Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai. It was the same venue where the inaugural WPL edition's auctions were held in February, earlier this year.
A total of 165 players -- 104 Indians and 61 overseas, including 15 from Associate nations -- have been shortlisted in the final draft ahead of the auction. These 165 players will be in contention for the 30 spots, including nine for overseas in the mini-auction, featuring 56 capped and 109 uncapped players.
The WPL 2024 Auction will begin at 2:30 PM IST and it will be live-streamed on Jio Cinema. Sports18 will live telecast the bidding process where a total of 30 players will be picked up by the five franchises.
There are a total of 104 Indian players and 61 overseas players, who have been included in the WPL Auction.
Champions Mumbai Indians have a purse of Rs 2.1 crore as they retained their core players from the first season. They will have to add five players to their bench, including one overseas, at the action.
Gujarat Giants have the biggest purse -- Rs 5.95 crore -- and they have the task of finding 10 new players to rebuild their squad. They could be the busiest franchise at the auction table.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have a purse of Rs 3.35 crore and will need to buy seven players to complete their squad ahead of the WPL 2024 season. They lost six of their eight matches in the previous season. They need to buy three overseas players as well.
Delhi Capitals enter the auction with a purse of Rs 2.25 crore and have a maximum limit of adding three players, including one overseas. They have a squad strength of 15 already going into the auction.
UP Warriorz have Rs 4 crore in their bank as they will work to fill five slots, including one overseas. The third in the five-team competition, there were many promising performances under captain Alyssa Healy.
Mallika Sagar, a specialist in modern and contemporary art and an auctioneer at Pundole's in Mumbai, conducted the WPL 2023 Auction at the Jio Convention Centre. She will be taking care of the proceedings at WPL 2024 Auction.
