WTC Final 2023: Virat Kohli reveals winning mantra ahead of World Test Championship clash against Australia

India take on Australia in the World Test Championship Final 2023 which starts from tomorrow (June 7) at the Oval in London.

This is India's consecutive WTC Final appearance as they prepare for a turnaround against the Aussies. In the WTC 2021 final, the Indian side lost the match against New Zealand and then captain Virat Kohli believes they need certain changes to make amends this time.

With only one match in a neutral venue, he highlighted the importance of adaptation as the key determinant of victory. As the World Test Championship unfolds, the absence of home advantage adds to the excitement, making it far more exciting as the team which makes a better adaptation comes out with the desired result.

As India collide against Pat Cummins and his team, Kohli reveals the Indian team will have to ensure adaptability in English conditions and be disciplined to grind out a positive result.

"I think The Oval will be challenging, we won't get a flat wicket and batters need to be cautious. We will need to concentrate on our focus and discipline. So you need to have the experience to play as per the conditions and we cannot go in with the expectation that The Oval pitch will play as it always has," Kohli said to broadcasters Star Sports ahead of the Final.

The former India captain also added the beauty of WTC Finals as it takes place in neutral venues.

"So we have to adjust and adapt, we have only one match in a neutral venue so whoever adapts better will win the match. This is the beauty of the World Test Championship, two neutral teams with no home advantage, so it will be very exciting to see how both teams adapt to the situation," the India stalwart added.

Kohli and other Indian batters will be up against a big challenge against Australian pacers. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland are expected to feature as the pace trio for the Aussies after Josh Hazlewood's injury ruled him out of the WTC Final.

Virat Kohli will be gaining confidence from his decent outing against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. He scored 297 in the series at an average of 49.5 and was the highest run scorer for the home side as India won the series 2-1.
