Fastest IPL Fifty: Young Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal on Thursday (May 11) created a massive record in the IPL as he slammed the fastest half-century in the tournament's history.
Jaiswal - the talented left-handed batter from Mumbai - took just 13 deliveries to get to his half-century and surpassed KL Rahul & Pat Cummins' record of the fastest fifty in the tournament. The duo notched up a half-century off 14 delivery.
The immensely talented southpaw cleared his intentions in the run chase against KKR in the first over itself when he took KKR captain Nitish Rana on remand and tonked 26 runs.
The 21-year-old Mumbaikar - who slammed a sensational century in the match against Mumbai Indians at his home ground in Wankhede - continues to raise his stocks. The uncapped India cricketer - who has been scoring heavily in the domestic circuit - has also smashed the second-fastest half-century ever in the T20 format.
In the match against KKR, Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 off 47 deliveries at a strike rate of 208.51. He smashed 14 fours and five sixes in his imperious knock that was studded with proper cricketing shots.
He's only behind legendary India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh - who owns the world record for slamming the fastest T20 half-century. Yuvraj's fifty came off just 12 deliveries against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
The left-handed batter got to his half-century in the match after smashing six consecutive sixes off England pacer Stuart Broad and created a world record in South Africa. KKR vs RR Highlights IPL 2023: Yashasvi, Chahal create records in big Rajasthan win
Earlier in the ongoing IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants' wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran smashed a fifty off 15 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Pooran is another left-handed batter who exploded with the bat in the tournament.
