Gemesi's journey in fencing started at a very young age. Spending most of his childhood in the fencing hall with his father, he naturally gravitated towards the sabre. By the age of seven or eight, he had the option to switch weapons but chose to stick with the sabre.

He trains at the Batizi-Benko fencing hall in Godollo under national coach Andras Decsi and Jozsef Navarrete. His training regime is rigorous, reflecting his commitment to the sport.

Achievements and Injuries

Gemesi's career has been marked by notable achievements. His most memorable accomplishment is winning gold in team sabre at the 2023 World Championships in Milan, Italy. This victory earned him and his teammates the title of Team of the Year in individual sports by the Association of Hungarian Sports Journalists.

However, his journey has not been without challenges. In March 2022, he suffered an ankle injury during a World Cup event in Budapest. This injury affected his performances in 2015 and 2016 as well.

Gemesi's excellence has been recognised through various awards. In 2023, he received the Granite Lion Role Model Award from the Men's Club in Hungary. He was also named Male Athlete of the Year at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences Sports Gala in 2022.

Gemesi resides in Godollo, Hungary, with his wife Eszter and their three sons, Apor, Vid, and Samu. He speaks both English and Hungarian fluently and holds a degree in Management from Corvinus University of Budapest.
