Daiki Hashimoto Biography

Hashidai's passion for gymnastics was sparked by his two older brothers, Takuya and Kengo, who competed at club and university levels in Japan. This familial influence led him to start training at a young age, setting the foundation for his future success.

Coaching and Training

Under the guidance of national coach Hisashi Mizutori, Hashidai has honed his skills and developed into a world-class gymnast. His high school coach gave him the nickname Mr Infinite Stamina due to his relentless appetite for training.

Achievements and Awards

Hashidai's most memorable sporting achievement came when he won gold in the individual all-around competition at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. This victory made him the youngest male gymnast to win this event at age 19 years and 355 days.

He has also received several awards, including an Excellence Award at the 2021 Japanese Olympic Committee Awards. In 2021, he was honoured with the Narita Citizen Honorary Award and the Inzai Citizen Honorary Award. Additionally, he received the Road to 2020 Olympic Encouragement Award at the TV Asahi Big Sports Awards in 2019.

Despite dealing with pain in both wrists, Hashidai competed in the 2022 World Championships in Liverpool, England. He showcased his resilience by winning four medals, including gold in the individual all-around event.
