Her twin sister Lenka has also represented Slovakia in shooting. Lenka won bronze in skeet at the 2010 European Championships in Kazan. Lenka is married to David Kostelecky, an international shooter for the Czech Republic who won gold in trap at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Bartekova took a break from shooting after placing 16th in skeet at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She did not shoot for five months, needing a mental rest. After the break, she felt motivated to return to shooting and explore new aspects of the sport.
In 2012, Bartekova was voted onto the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission. She also served as an ambassador at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Balancing her IOC responsibilities with her national team duties has been challenging but fulfilling for her.
Bartekova graduated with a master's degree in international relations from Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica in 2012. A year later, she began pursuing a doctoral degree at the same university. She is also a licensed shooting coach certified by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).
Bartekova's journey reflects her dedication to both her sport and her academic pursuits. Her involvement with the IOC and her coaching certification further highlight her commitment to contributing to the world of sports beyond her personal achievements.
