Throughout his career, Svoboda has faced several injuries. Between 2013 and 2015, he had chronic muscle problems in his left leg. These injuries, along with back muscle issues, prevented him from competing at top-level events from August 2015 to March 2016.
Svoboda has been named the Czech Modern Pentathlete of the Year multiple times, specifically in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012. His identical twin brother Tomas has also competed internationally in triathlon.
Outside of modern pentathlon, Svoboda enjoys skydiving. He looks up to several Czech athletes, including javelin thrower Jan Zelezny, decathlete Roman Sebrle, rower Ondrej Synek, and modern pentathlete Libor Capalini.
Svoboda lives by the motto: "It is not important to win, but to compete with honour." As of July 2024, he continues to reside in Prague and remains dedicated to his sport.
