Nemo sought a sport that did not require her to wear a prosthetic. She mentioned, "I can walk for about 10 minutes and then my hip starts to hurt and I get very tired." Despite starting behind other wheelchair tennis players, she quickly picked up the sport due to her youth.
In late 2019, Nemo experienced a lower back injury that affected her training ahead of the 2020 season.
In 2019, Nemo became the first female player to hold the women's wheelchair tennis singles titles at all four Grand Slam events simultaneously. In 2018, she was the first female wheelchair tennis player to win both singles and doubles titles in the same year at Wimbledon.
Nemo won the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability Award in 2024. She also received the Women's Wheelchair World Champion Award from the International Tennis Federation in 2018 and 2019.
Nemo aims to compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
