Emma Twigg Biography

One of Twigg's memorable achievements was competing at the 2010 World Championships in Hamilton, New Zealand. She also missed the 2008 Bryan Gould Cup due to a rib injury. Despite this setback, she continued to excel in her sport.

Her accolades include being named Senior Sportsperson of the Year at the 2014 Hawke's Bay Sports Awards and receiving the 2007 Westpac Emerging Talent Award. Additionally, she was named Sportsperson of the Year at the Hawke's Bay Sports Awards in 2005 and 2007.

After retiring post-2016 Rio Olympics, Twigg worked with the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne. She returned to competition in February 2019 and won gold at the New Zealand national championships in single sculls.
