Kirwa initially competed for Kenya but switched allegiances to Bahrain in late 2013. She became eligible to represent Bahrain in July 2014. Her sporting philosophy is simple: "Enjoy life and share the things you like."

Sanction and Suspension

In May 2019, Kirwa was banned for four years after testing positive for Erythropoietin (EPO) during an out-of-competition test in Kapsabet, Kenya. The Athletics Integrity Unit announced her suspension the following month. Her ban ended in May 2023.
