Arican trains at the Murat Canbas Gymnastics Hall in Karacayir, Turkiye, under the guidance of national coach Yilmaz Goktekin. He represents Goztepe Spor Kulubu in Izmir. His dedication to the sport has led to memorable achievements, including competing at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.

In 2016, Arican became the first male artistic gymnast from Turkiye to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He made history again in 2020 by winning a bronze medal on parallel bars at the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first artistic gymnast from Turkiye to win an Olympic medal.

Challenges and Injuries

Throughout his career, Arican has faced several injuries. In 2008, he broke his collarbone and required surgery to insert a metal plate. He returned to competition seven months later. In November 2015, he suffered a shoulder injury, and in April 2018, he underwent surgery for an injury to his left arm.

Philosophy and Recognition

Arican's sporting philosophy is centred on learning and self-improvement. He believes in deriving lessons from mistakes. This mindset has earned him numerous accolades. In 2021, he was named Artistic Gymnast of the Year by European Gymnastics. He also had the honour of being a flag bearer for Turkiye at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran, Algeria.

Overcoming COVID-19

In 2021, Arican tested positive for COVID-19 but recovered in time to win gold on parallel bars at the European Championships in Basel, Switzerland. Reflecting on this experience, he emphasised dedication and resilience as key factors in overcoming challenges.

Advocacy and Future Plans

Arican is also an advocate for environmental sustainability. After winning gold at the 2021 European Championships, he highlighted global plastic use by showcasing his metal water bottle on television. He believes athletes can leverage their influence to promote positive change.

Looking ahead, Arican aims to win gold at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Additionally, he co-founded Kolektif Akademi with fellow gymnast Coskun Boncuk in 2018. The academy focuses on training young gymnasts in Izmir. Post-retirement, Arican plans to dedicate his career to managing this academy and advancing gymnastics in Turkiye.

Fluent in English and Turkish, Arican holds a degree in Sports Administration from Ege University in Manisa, Turkey. He resides in Izmir with his wife Neslihan Aslan.
