Training in Amsterdam under national coach Fynn van Buuren and personal coach Guido Bonsen since 2015, she has shown remarkable dedication. Her prosthetist Frank Jol has also been a significant influence. Her training regime reflects her commitment to excellence.
Initially afraid of long jump due to its perceived danger, she eventually embraced it in 2019. "It looked so dangerous, being a double amputee," she said. However, once she tried it, she fell in love with the discipline. Now, she cannot imagine life without long jump.
She holds a degree in Communications from the University of Amsterdam and is fluent in Dutch, English, and German. Outside of athletics, she enjoys reading and solving puzzles. These hobbies provide her with mental relaxation and balance.
In 2017, she co-founded the Para Atletiek Foundation with teammate Marlene van Gansewinkel and coach Guido Bonsen. The foundation aims to support and motivate Para athletes. "My mission is to show that an impairment does not have to be a limitation," she stated.
Looking ahead, she aims to compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Her journey from rehabilitation to aiming for the Paralympics showcases her resilience and determination. She continues to train rigorously in Amsterdam to achieve this goal.
