In the Group A matches of the Delhi Leg, Punjab FC demonstrated their dominance with convincing victories over Sudeva Delhi FC, triumphing 3-0 and 1-0 respectively. Meanwhile, Group B witnessed intense competition as BBFS emerged as the group leader, edging past Zinc FA by a narrow margin.

Amidst the fervour of the Dream Sports Championship's regional rounds, it was C Beichhuahmo who broke the deadlock for BBFS Delhi in the 27th minute. However, Punjab FC swiftly responded as Pyrkhatshaphrang Sumar netted an equalizer just before halftime.

The second half witnessed a cautious approach from both teams, particularly after Punjab FC captain Karish Soram received a red card. With the match headed for a deadlock, the focus shifted to the defensive units to maintain the scoreline.

The defining moment of the match arrived during the dramatic penalty shootout, where Punjab FC's goalkeeper Viswajeet Yadav emerged as the hero with two crucial saves. His stellar performance sealed a remarkable victory for Punjab FC, earning them a coveted spot in the National Finals.

Following the thrilling encounter, Punjab FC's skipper expressed his elation, emphasizing the team's resilience in overcoming adversity. He underscored the significance of tournaments like the Dream Sports Championship in nurturing young talent and fostering the growth of football in India.

"Coming back after one down to win the match was very good. Especially after I got sent off. I could not watch after we missed the first penalty so I am very proud of my team. (About the tournament) There are not many U17 tournaments and this is very helpful for the future of football. The Dream Sports Championship gives the players to develop their skills," Soram - who is part of the India U17 team - said.

Echoing similar sentiments, head coach Ishant Singh lauded the tournament for providing valuable exposure and learning opportunities for budding players. He emphasised the importance of facing pressure situations in shaping the development of young athletes.

"We will take the positives from the tournament and look to improve on them. This tournament is very good for the development of young players. Playing in the final is especially important because players will learn when they face pressure situations. So a big thank you to Dream Sports Foundation for organising this tournament," said the head coach after the post-match presentation.

With the conclusion of the Delhi leg, Punjab FC joins an illustrious lineup of teams confirmed for the Dream Sports Championship's national finals. Alongside Punjab FC, East Bengal FC from Kolkata, Reliance Foundation Young Champs, Mumbai City FC, and Football 4 Change, winners of the Shillong Leg, have secured their spots in the highly anticipated finals.

The tournament is organised by Dream Sports Foundation (DSF), the philanthropic arm of Dream Sports. DSF is committed to enhancing the sports ecosystem through athlete-centric programs in the country. With initiatives like DreamGold and strategic partnerships with renowned sports organisations, DSF aims to support the development of promising athletes and contribute to the overall growth of sports in India.
