ISL 2023-24: Five Best Deals of January Transfer Window

The Indian Super League 2023-24 season has witnessed some groundbreaking deals in the January Transfer Window before its conclusion on January 31.

Eleven clubs across the division have got some business done in the transfer window as the only exception was ISL champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

Bengaluru FC have taken in three players in the window, two of whom have come from the struggling Hyderabad FC. The Nizams are the biggest loser of this window, as they have let go of six players, two of whom have made permanent moves to Bengaluru as mentioned earlier.

The fight for the ISL shield and the playoff spots have already resumed after the month-long ISL break and we can expect an intense battle. And the job in the transfer window may prove to be crucial in the long race.

Here are five transfers of the January Window which may prove to be the key come the end of the season-

Tomi Juric (NorthEast United)

Tomi Juric, one of Australia's top strikers have joined NorthEast United in January. The 32-year-old joins them from Melbourne Victory and can play a huge part in NEUFC's push for the playoff spots. The veteran striker has massive experience behind him and can be the biggest factor in a potential upsurge for the Highlanders in the second half of the season.

Nikhil Poojary (Bengaluru FC)

Nikhil Poojary has joined Bengaluru FC in a permanent deal from Hyderabad FC. The Indian right-back is a top player and is the latest big name to leave the Nizams, who are at complete disarray. But it has come sweet for the Blues who have a top player in their squad. Poojary's quality at the right-back position is a major upgrade for them, which can boost the Blues in the remainder of this ISL season and beyond.

Victor Vazquez (East Bengal)

From the chilly Toronto, former Barcelona midfielder Victor Vazquez has joined East Bengal. The veteran midfielder is a top signing for the Kolkata club and will be orchestrating their proceedings from now on. Vazquez has played alongside Lionel Messi and also has a Champions League goal to his name, and the East Bengal fans will be hoping that the Spaniard fires them to the ISL playoffs for the first time in their history.

Javier Siverio (Jamshedpur FC)

Javier Siverio's failed East Bengal move can get a revival as the player has joined Jamshedpur FC on loan for the remainder of the season. The Spanish player is a gifted individual and a stint under Khalid Jamil can be the perfect foil for him to reignite himself in the ISL. JFC also have a goalscoring burden on Daniel Chima Chukwu, and Siverio can be a key weapon there as they aim to stay away from the bottom two places.

Iker Guarrotxena (Mumbai City FC)

Iker Guarrotxena is the latest foreigner at Mumbai City as they released three of their foreigners in the January window. The Spanish attacking midfielder joins them from Real Murcia and has prior experience of ISL during his FC Goa days.

The defending ISL shield champions are currently five points off the top and Guarrotxena's role can be crucial in their season. The Spaniard is a well-equipped player with a broad range of passes and a goal-scoring knack, and Mumbai may rejoice come May if Guarrotxena shines the way he supposed to.
