Bengaluru, March 2: The final of the Indian Super League could be shifted to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru from Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium, according to a newspaper report.

The decision to move the final to the Garden City was taken due to the fan support witnessed in the city during the league stages. The summit clash will be held on March 17.

After all, city-based ISL franchise Bengaluru FC qualified for the semi-finals as the league stage leaders and have a great chance of making the final. They will compete for a spot in the final with Jamshedpur FC, FC Goa or Chennaiyin FC.

"It's a fitting gift to BFC fans who have turned out in big numbers throughout the season to support their team. All this during Bengaluru's debut season," a source was quoted as saying by the Times of India. "Kochi was in contention till Kerala crashed out of the reckoning. The other contender was Goa."

However, unrelenting fans have titled the odds in favour of Bengaluru. Kolkata was reportedly dropped as the venue for the final after ATK failed to make the playoffs.

"In the last match in Delhi, the hosts managed to sell only 60 tickets though the official figure was much more. That's where the unwavering support of Bengaluru fans has really clinched the deal," the source added.

Table-toppers Bengaluru, who are on 40 points will take on the fourth-placed team in the semi-finals. The battle for the fourth spot will be decided when Jamshedpur FC host FC Goa on Sunday (March 4).
If FC Goa pull off a win, they will finish third or second with 30 points and push Chennaiyin FC down to fourth. If the match ends in a draw, Goa will finish fourth. If Jamshedpur FC manage a win, then there are chances that they will finish fourth.

The double-legged semi-finals, played on a home and away basis, will be held from March 7-13. Given Bengaluru FC have an AFC Cup group tie against Aizawl FC on March 7 and 14, they will get some leeway in their ISL fixtures.
