Manchester City likely to win Premier League this time, claim legends

London, Nov 21: Manchester City are placed comfortably at the top of the table in the Premier League season and Pep Guardiola's boys are considered the top title contenders.

City are unbeaten in 18 matches in all competitions this season, as they are holding an eight-point lead atop the Premier League and having already qualified for the last 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

It is due to their top form, Guardiola's men are title contenders for this year's Champions League as well. Even the former footballers and legends of the game feel City are a force to reckon with this season.

The Sky Blues last won the Premier League in 2014 and many feel they could lift the title after a gap of three years.

Here's how legends are backing City to claim the Premier League title this season:

Frank Lampard, former Chelsea goalkeeper: In current form, obviously Manchester City (are going to win), but I think Chelsea also (is a contender) - if you look at their performance in Madrid against Atletico Madrid. That was a perfect European away performance.

Michael Owen, former England, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City striker: Manchester City are probably the best team in this season. It would be 'foolish' to think that any team other than Manchester City will win the Premier League this season.

Former French star Marcel Desailly: (Manchester) City has been chasing their dream now for six years. They've been spending quite a lot. Next season will be Paris (Saint-Germain), I hope so because they also have been trying (you know) with a huge financial commitment.

On Real Madrid's chances of winning the Champions League, the former Milan and Marseille midfielder said, "It cannot be Real Madrid again (Champions League winners), even if (Zinedine) Zidane is the coach of the team."

Former German Footballer Oliver Kahn: Manchester City is one of the favourite teams I think. It's Paris Saint-Germain. With Neymar and a lot of great players in this team. But I am not sure if they can win the final this year. Because it takes some time you know.

On Real Madrid retaining their Champions League trophy, he said, "I am not sure if they (Real Madrid) the Champions League this time it will be three times in a row it will be an unbelievable story."

Iker Cassilas, Porto goalkeeper: Real Madrid's real challenge is winning their 13th Champions League and being the best team in Europe, although we'll try to stop them.
