Bengaluru, February 5: The keyboard warriors went bersek as Twitter was flooded with a flurry of wishes for Real Madrid star Cristaino Ronaldo, who turned 33 on Monday (February 5).

Ahead of the birthday bash, the Portuguese skipper, who played an instrumental role in his country's Euro Cup triumph in 2016 was in a cheerful mood as he striked a happy pose with a black Nike American football uniform, complete with his famed No 7 on the jersey.

That was just hours before the Super Bowl LII title clash between Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots which the former won 41-33.

But for sports buffs, it was nothing new as Ronaldo's love for NFL is much known. Back in 2014 just before the Brazil World Cup, Ronaldo had trained with his Portuguese team-mates at the New York Jets' practice ground.

On the field, it is not so good though for the four-time Ballon d'Or winner as he was substituted in Real's 2-2 draw with Levante which pushed the champions further down in the La Liga table.

Ronaldo, who is the leading goal scorer in Real history with 385 strikes in 373 games, still had one of the best seasons so far, winning the Ballon d'Or for the fifth time and FIFA Club World Cup for the second time.

The next big challenge for the two-time Champions League winner is the round of 16 knockout fixture against Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

Real will host the first leg at home in Santiango Bernabeu on February 14. PSG will host the return leg at Parc des Princes on March 3.
