Gonzalo Peillat Biography

Peillat's international debut came in 2011 when he was just 17. He was a member of Argentina's wider training squad when coach Pablo Lombi invited him to play at the Champions Challenge in Johannesburg, South Africa. He played for 10 minutes against Japan, marking the beginning of his international career.

Club and Coaching

Currently, Peillat plays for HGC in Wassenaar, Netherlands. He is coached by Jan Jorn van't Land at the club level and Carlos Retegui for the national team. In addition to his playing career, Peillat holds regular coaching clinics around Argentina, sharing his expertise with aspiring players.

Achievements and Awards

Peillat has been recognised as Argentina's Best Player in 2014 and 2015. He was the leading goal scorer at the 2014 World Cup in The Hague and the 2015/16 edition of the Hoofdklasse. In 2014, he received the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Young Player of the Year award and was shortlisted for it in 2012 and 2013.

Specialist on Penalty Corners

Known as one of the world's top specialists on penalty corners, Peillat only started practising this technique after a session with Marco Riccardi at his club Mitre. He improved his strength by practising with weighted balls and a heavier stick and refined his technique with national team player Jorge Lombi.

Personal Life

Peillat's partner, Florencia Habif, has also represented Argentina in hockey. His family are keen supporters of his career, especially his grandmother, who follows him to various tournaments. She attended the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2014 World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands.
